SWUMC News
My mouth is starting to feel a little better. I can eat soft foods along my right side of my mouth. I'm still eating pudding and I'm finishing off tapioca right now (Thank you Anita). I'm finding that I'm getting really protective of MY food. If I hear Jade or the kids in the fridge, I have to lurk out to make sure they aren't eating my stuff. (Isn't that pathetic).
I bought the Kaopectate and am getting ready to try out that benadryl solution. I also have some Lysine from the Gaffs that I'm trying too (thank you). I think I'd try anything, short of horse manure if it would help those sores!

I was honored to get to run a couple of miles with Staci today, had to walk a few times, though. Next week I think I'll try to bike with her--she has to run 22 miles!!! So I'll get to sit there, not even breaking a sweat while she's pounding the pavement! I wish I could be pounding the pavement with her, but I feel very blessed that I'm feeling as well as I'm feeling. I'll be her water girl, cheer leader, and fend off all the wild animals.

The quilt is nearly done, I got to see it yesterday. It is BEAUTIFUL! I will try to see if I can bring it to the ice cream social tonight.
Thank you for all of your prayers!! Love, Becca

Made it 2!

SWUMC News
Feeling better each day (except for the mouth sores). I did not even take the Immodium today (I'm living on the edge!)
Thank you for all of the good advice for my mouth sores. I've been gargling with peroxide, alcohol-free mouth wash, and Mary's Magic Mouth wash. I even bought a soft bristled tooth brush (it's Dora the Explorer--so the kids think I'm cool).

I ran 2 miles tonight, felt great. I think I could have even gone further, but thought I'd better take it easy. My goal is to make it back up to 5 or 6 miles--once I can eat well. Otherwise, I think I'll just do a couple miles now and then and conserve my calories.

Looking forward to watching Grey's Anatomy tonight!! Enjoy all the great TV tonight!

Wednesday

SWUMC News

Another pretty good day! yipee! Now if I can get rid of my sores in my mouth, there's probably a dozen blisters and canker sores on my tongue, inside my cheek, and on the back of my throat. I look like I have "suckling" blisters on my lips--kind of funny, but ouch! I cannot eat any solid foods, and soft food is very painful too. I went to Walgreens and found some "mouth sore bandaid" ointment. So I tried it (after I bought it). It actually helped, but it only lasted a few minutes. It was still worth the $10. I'll use it again before breakfast so I can eat. Been eating scrambled eggs for breakfast. Can't wait until I can eat some good ole potato chips and nachos!! (That would be like eating nails and shards of glass right now).

Worked 2 hours today. I felt pretty good. Kids aren't scared of my mask, either. The girls at work made me a cute mask that they decorated with bandaids and stickers. I will probably go back to business as usual next week as far as work goes.

Your outpouring of prayers, cards, phone calls, and visits have been so wonderful. Thank you! Love,
Becca

Tuesday

SWUMC News
I really enjoyed yesterdays blogs. It's been kind of hard to check on the blogs, just haven't felt good.

I did force myself out of the house (with my mask) and went with my dad to Fort Wayne yesterday. I got to see my Grandpa Hurd (I weakened Aunt Chris). He looks GREAT, Except for that new rod in his left femur, I don't think he'll be down for long. Maybe no more 2-wheeled bikes, though. It's a real gift to have both of my Grandparents around AND as spunky as they both are.

If anyone knows my Dad, they will appreciate what he did yesterday...don't worry, this isn't gross. He took me to Jefferson point to buy a pair of jeans and dress pants so that I have something to wear! I don't think he knew what Old Navy was, but now he does. He was shocked to see how much clothing costs and I told him Old Navy was cheap! (Plus mine were on sale). He was funny. He was digging through the jeans looking for my size--kind of got confused because I needed short, not regular! He's a good rummager. I bought the pair he found. He even picked out my dress pants. I think he was pleased with himself!

I'm starting to see a bit of a pattern with the chemo and side effects.
Monday = I felt great.
Tuesday and Wednesay not too bad,
but Wednesday night, stomach cramps and other GI symptoms start.
Thursday and Friday--lay down all day and push fluids (these will be called the sick days).
Friday night mouth sores start.
(Next time I'll start the Immodium right away so I don't get dehydrated, and I won't hesitate to take the Zofran, either).
Saturday and Sunday continue taking Immodium and try to start getting strength back.
It was a push to stay off the couch yesterday, but I feel better today, because of it.
Monday, still queezy.
Tuesday feeling better, cramps not as BAD!!

Cluster headaches

SWUMC News

Ended up getting 3 migraines within a 24 hour period over the weekend. I've never had cluster headaches before and I'm not sure this is common from chemo? Not any fun.

Still having a lot of abdominal cramps and the other that goes along with that. Immodium helped the other day and I am hoping for it to be successful this morning.

I think I will try to take it easy this week, and then maybe try to work next week? We'll see what Dr. Hatcher says. I know she wants me to get my rest, but I need to stay sane too!
Immodium's not helping, gotta go.
