Saturday

SWUMC News

Another really good day. I got to run a little with Staci this morning. She had to run 22 miles. So she met at our house and ran an 11 mile loop twice. The first loop she ran with Beth K. Then Traci and I went with her the second loop. I only ran 6 miles (huge accomplishment), then biked with Traci the second half while Staci ran her little legs off. Way to go Staci!!

Jade and I got to have a date this afternoon--soccer game and Logans! I even got to clean the house without the munchkins running around--they went to Aunt Rachel's and Uncle Jamie's house.

Tomorrow is the day for the "hair cut". Aunt Candy is going to do it. I am not sure what to expect. I wonder if I'll go through the stages of grief and mourning? Just kidding, I think it will be hard to get used to, but it will be better than shedding like I am. I think I am ready. It's just hair, and it's already almost gone.
I really appreciate all of your great suggestions and helpful hints!

Wigs

SWUMC News: Thursday
Had a great afternoon with Aunt Beth. She took me to get a wig, ended up that I have 2 wigs. Wigs are kind of strange. A wig feels so weird, like there's a fluffy animal stuck fast to my head. I am so thankful Aunt Beth went with me. She knew what to ask and had the nice lady trim up the wigs. So now I have a tina turner wig and a auburn colored, shorter wig. Lauren and Jack had to try them on right away. They looked like Joe Dirt with the Tina Turner wig on. It was hilarious!

Then we went out for a late lunch and did a little shopping. I introduced Beth to Coldstone Creamery--ate some ice cream, yummy. I ate the entire bowl--haven't done that in a while. (yahoo) Aunt Beth cracked me up. She can't have cookies but she unknowingly ordered something that had oreos in itbut did not realize it. She was eating and talking, and then she suddenly stopped chewing and said "what's crunchy in this ice cream, is there a cookie?". We thought it was almonds, then realized it was the cookies-she had to spit it out!! So, Aunt Beth, I sure hope you are feeling good and that you didn't get sick. I should apologize for giggling--I'm sorry.

Hat and Scarf party--good friends

SWUMC News
Tonight I was surprised with a hat and scarf party at my sister's house. I think I have more hats and scarfs than the 80s did. I had a lot of fun getting to see friends and family--some whom I haven't seen in years. It was great to catch up and see their children (several got to come and play with Jack and Lauren). You know, good friends are those who you can just pick up where you last left off--no hard feelings for missed years--and just catch up on as much stuff as you can. I am greatly blessed with those kinds of friends.

I'm a little nervous about tomorrow--I hope I don't get to feeling too overwhelmed. It's going to be a very emotional day. I'm looking forward to seeing friends and family and even making some new friends--all for a healthy cause. I don't know if I will be able to run or walk--will have to just wait and see.
I'm excited to see all of those who do participate in the run/walk. I LOVE seeing people getting out and just moving.
There are also 7 ladies in South Dakota who are going to walk 3 miles tomorrow!!! (you go girls!)
Better get to sleep. Love,Becca

SWUMC News
I was sitting here eating frosted mini wheats and before I knew it, my entire bowl was empty! This is a praise because I'm gaining some weight and I have not had painful swallowing since starting chemo. I'm hoping that means the tumor is shrinking. I was also thinking that if my hair follicles are already falling out, maybe that is also a good sign? Since chemo attacks the very rapid growing cancer cells AND all the body's normal fast growing cells like hair follicles, taste buds, etc.
Also, a friend emailed me a daily devotional that I now get every morning via email. I want to share it with you. Many of you may share the same problem that I have, trying to fit in daily devotions. Well, getting devotions sent to email is very convenient and does not let me make up excuses anymore!

Have a wonderful day.
Oh, and I think Aunt Beth is going to help me get hooked up with a wig. And Nikki, you and Melissa do NOT need to shave your heads--your hair is so pretty and the weather is becoming cold!! But that was a very touching offer! I love you!

Yikes!

SWUMC News

Tonight Jade called me back into the bathroom after I had gotten out of the shower. As he was looking at the shower floor, he said "honey, I think you're losing your hair." Sure enough, there was hair all over the shower floor. I wasn't prepared for that. I didn't realize how difficult it was going to be to lose my hair. I guess I thought it wouldn't happen so soon. But then again, I have had some pretty intense chemo. Maybe that means that stubborn chin hair will fall out too???? I think I need to go buy a wig and I will have to figure out how to wear those scarves. Any ideas?

Girls night out

SWUMC News
Worked a couple hours today and then went to a nurse practitioner meeting with Darcy, Heather, and Neely--NPs from Dr. Gladd and Dr. Dickmeyers' offices. It was nice. I think I am starting to feel the fatigue people talk about. But I really can't complain, otherwise I feel wonderful.

I know a lot of people read this blog, so I'm hoping to reach out to some people who are planning on running or walking the South Whitley Fall Fest 5K...I checked and we can order youth t shirts. So if you have already sent in registrations, get a hold of me and tell me what size you want (5K).
There are not free t shirts with the fun run, but if you want to purchase a long sleeve youth t shirt, the cost is $6.00 for the shirt. Just write that in on the the fun run registration (total cost would be $7 with shirt). I'm only ordering youth shirts for the preregistered runners, so let me know asap. Thank you.

Beautiful Day

SWUMC News

What a beautiful morning, now that the fog has lifted. I've been working on thank you notes, WOW, there are over 200 and I know I'm going to forget someone. So I just need to say thank you to everyone who has helped out, prayed, and volunteered at the Love Run, Plow Days, Ice cream social, and have brought food to the house. We are so grateful to you all. Also, thank you for all of the cards. They are still pouring in and the kids and I open them each day together. Lauren likes to match the cards, since many have the same beautiful pictures on the cover.

Please keep my brother in your prayers. He is having some testing today. He has been having enlarged lymph nodes and the doctors can't seem to find out what is wrong with him. He is growing frustrated, as I was, and just really wants some answers.
Thank you, Love, Becca

SWUMC News
God has answered my prayers--my mouth is feeling 80% better! Almost completely healed! Thank you for all of your prayers and great suggestions.

Feeling pretty good this evening. I can't believe how fast I have bounced back this week. I hope and pray it's like this each month (minus the mouth sores) Ran 4 miles this evening--slowly!! Yipee!
It was great to be in church this morning and see so many friendly faces. Thank you for continuing to pray for us. Love, Becca
